Etiquette for Building and Maintaining Masjid

What is a Masjid?
The Masjid is a place reserved for for the worship of Allah (S.W.T) In this place no one but Allah is allowed to be worshiped.
And the places of worship are only for Allah, so pray not unto anyone along with Allah. (72:18)
&
The mosques of Allah shall be visited and maintained by such as believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish regular prayers, and practice regular charity, and fear none (at all) except Allah. It is they who are expected to be on true guidance. (9:18)
Entering A Masjid
When you enter a Masjid you enter with your right foot saying "O Allah! Open the doors of Rahmah for me!" And when you enter you should remove your shoes so no dirt from the street enters the Masjid. The carpet of the Masjid must be kept clean.
Tahiyyat al Masjid- a sunnah prayer made to thank Allah for letting you reach the Masjid.
Waiting for Prayer
While waiting for the Iqaamah to go on you should sit quietly and patiently ,doing zikr to Allah. The Masjid is the place to worship Allah and Allah only.
Leaving the Masjid
When leaving the Masjid you must leave with your left foot saying "O Allah! I ask you to bless me with Your Fadl!"
Important Points:

  • The Masjid is the house of Allah and is built and maintained by those who love Him and believe in Him.
  • While in the Masjid we should not talk, play or make noise. We should concentrate only on remembering Allah.*
  • We should take part in events that take place in our Masjid and Islamic Center to show the world that  we are united.
  • *If you think of someone excessively, you are worshiping that person/object.
